Release Notes IDS NXT 4.1

Introduction

These release notes describe the new features and changes in the IDS NXT 4.1 release. This release updates the following components:

IDS NXT cockpit 4.1

This version of the IDS NXT cockpit supports Windows 10 64-bit (version 22H2) and Windows 11 64-bit (version 23H2).

New and changed functions

Support of vision apps of type .mvapp for IDS NXT malibu.
Streaming:
- To increase security, authentication has been implemented for access to the streams.
- Settings in the "Streaming" tab are only possible in the "Admin" user profile. The settings can be viewed in the "Service" user profile.
- Support for additional streaming resolutions (1440 x 1080, UHD and WQHD)
- A new stream (Stream 3) has been implemented. Stream 3 supports streaming via HTTP.

General improvements

Stability improvements in connection with the streaming settings.
An error message has been added to the system status information. The message is displayed if a problem has occurred with the sensor.
Vision app results are displayed with the SI unit symbols.
For the list order of the vision app results, the index and then the identifier are now used.
Improved performance by cleaning up background processes.

Bugfixes

An error caused that the initial password change in the Finder was not confirmed. Once you have successfully changed your password in the Finder, the password change will now be confirmed and you will be logged on automatically.
An error caused that the dialog "IDS NXT OS Update available" was displayed incorrectly. This error has been fixed. The dialog is displayed if an outdated OS version is installed on the camera.
An error could lead that the connection to the camera was not automatically re-established after changing the IP address. This error has been fixed.

Anomaly Finder 4.1

New vision app for anomaly detection. The Anomaly Finder vision app makes it possible to recognise deviations from the trained target state. The vision app does not contain a CNN, as anomaly detection only provides reliable results if the CNN has been trained with images of the corresponding application situation. You can train a CNN with your own images in IDS lighthouse.
The vision app is available for the camera families IDS NXT rio and IDS NXT rome (.vapp) as well as for IDS NXT malibu cameras (.mvapp). You will find the right vision app for your camera in the download area after you have selected your camera model.

Classifier 4.1

The vision app Classifier 4.1 only supports IDS NXT malibu cameras. All vision apps for IDS NXT cameras previously had the .vapp file format. Vision apps for IDS NXT malibu cameras now have the .mvapp file format. This makes the assignment between the vision app and the supported camera directly visible. For the cameras IDS NXT rio and IDS NXT rome, use the vision app Classifier 3.1.

CNN Evaluator 4.1

The vision app CNN Evaluator is now also available for IDS NXT malibu cameras.
The vision app CNN Evaluator 4.1 (.mvapp) only supports IDS NXT malibu cameras. Prerequisite: IDS NXT OS 4.0 or higher.
The vision app CNN Evaluator 4.1 (.vapp) only supports the cameras IDS NXT rio and IDS NXT rome. Prerequisite: IDS NXT OS 3.1 or higher.

GPIO Gateway 4.1

Breaking change: The names of the configurables have been changed. They no longer begin with a letter and an underscore, but consist only of the name of the respective configurable.
You will no longer find the details of the last inference under "Configurables", but in a new "Information" area.
The information texts for the plugin have been expanded.
The GPIO Gateway plugin is now also available for IDS NXT malibu cameras. You will find the right plugin for your camera in the download area after you have selected your camera model.

Object Detector 4.1

The vision app Object Detector 4.1 only supports IDS NXT malibu cameras. All vision apps for IDS NXT cameras previously had the .vapp file format. Vision apps for IDS NXT malibu cameras now have the .mvapp file format. This makes the assignment between the vision app and the supported camera directly visible. For the cameras IDS NXT rio and IDS NXT rome, use the vision app Object Detector 3.1.

OPC UA Server 4.1

The vision app OPC UA server 4.1 only supports the cameras IDS NXT rio and IDS NXT rome.
The validity of the certificate generated by the camera has been increased to 50 years. Validity begins at the time the certificate is generated.
An error caused that the OPC UA server was automatically terminated when the camera was started. This error has been fixed.

Known issues

IDS NXT OS / IDS NXT cockpit	Upload backups	The size of the maximum possible backup is limited to the free RAM space of the camera at the time of upload.
IDS NXT cockpit	IDS NXT malibu	If multiple IDS NXT cockpits are opened on a PC at the same time, the IDS NXT malibu is only displayed in the Finder of one IDS NXT cockpit.
IDS NXT cockpit	IDS NXT rio / IDS NXT rome	If you enable image sharpening and use a sensor ROI, the image in the IDS NXT cockpit may jump. This error can mean that the ROI cannot be adjusted in vision apps.
IDS NXT cockpit	Vision app "Crawler" is no longer usable.	The separate vision app "Crawler" is no longer compatible with IDS NXT cockpit 2.3.0 or higher, as the Crawler application has been integrated into IDS NXT cockpit from version 2.3 on. If you are working with an IDS NXT cockpit version 2.3.0 or higher, uninstall the Vision App "Crawler" if it is still installed on the camera.
IDS NXT cockpit	Icon for Crawler is displayed 2x in IDS NXT cockpit.	If the vision app "Crawler" is still installed on the camera after an update to IDS NXT cockpit 2.3, the crawler icons are displayed 2x in the IDS NXT cockpit. Uninstall the previous vision app "Crawler" on the camera.
IDS NXT cockpit	Mixed operation of IDS NXT cockpit and IDS peak	In the case of mixed operation with IDS peak, uninstalling IDS peak or IDS NXT cockpit may lead to complications when updating the GUF files. After uninstalling, reinstall the remaining software to fix the problem.
IDS NXT cockpit	Vision apps and previous ROI feature (IDS NXT OS < 1.3.0)	If vision apps are still using the previous ROI feature, the ROI may show an incorrect position when switching binning.
IDS NXT cockpit	Multi camera viewer and vision app selection	If you have already selected a vision app for a camera in the multicamera viewer and you subsequently install a new vision app on this camera or delete a vision app, the vision app selection in the multicamera viewer is reset. Set up the vision apps on the camera. Configure the multi camera viewer. Select the vision app in the multi camera viewer.
IDS NXT cockpit	Maximum frame rate in freerun mode	To achieve the maximum frame rate in freerun mode, no images should be displayed with the IDS NXT cockpit due to performance reasons.
Vision apps	Vision app crashed	If a vision app has crashed, you have the following options to restart it: Open the IDS NXT cockpit and restart the vision app in the VApp Manager. When the camera is restarted, the vision app is automatically restarted. If the problem persists, contact the vision app developer.
Object Detector	Result output	Japanese characters cannot be displayed in the result image.
Classifier	Result output	Japanese characters cannot be displayed in the result image.
Classifier	Nets with attention maps	It was noticed that in certain cases classification results differ significantly, which is likely due to the different net architectures. If you use nets with attention maps, you may get different results compared to nets without attention maps. These differences occur because different net architectures are used for training. For serial application, we recommend to use nets without attention maps.
OPC UA Server	New installation of a vision app	After reinstalling a vision app, it may be necessary to call the "PrepareRecipe" method twice to enable the corresponding recipe. Alternatively, after reinstalling a vision app, it is recommended to start it once initially.
IDS NXT Vision App Creator	Update of the IDS NXT Vision App Creator	After an update, the setting of the alternative "Source Folder" for projects must be reset.
IDS NXT Vision App Creator	Update the virtual machine	During the update, the virtual machine is deleted and replaced by a new one. Before updating, you must manually back up files that you have stored in the previous virtual machine and want to use further.
IDS NXT Vision App Creator	Uninstallation	The installation of the IDS NXT Vision App Creator does not require administrator privileges. If you installed the previous version as an administrator, the uninstall entry in the Control Panel may not be removed automatically. Go to "Control Panel" → "Programs and Features" and uninstall the previous version of IDS NXT Vision App Creator here.
