A PCI bus system has a theoretical maximum data transmission rate of 132 MB/s with a with of the data bus of 32 bit and a clock range of 33 MHz.
With a FALCONquattro PCI and a commercial PC in practice data transmission rates are possible up to 80 MB/s. Using all 4 channels a FALCONquattro needs almost the available bandwidth. With several FALCONquattro PCI boards the transmission rate of about 90 MB/s is divided.

Fig. 12: Comparison of PCI and PCIe
With a PCIe bus the available data transmission rate depends on the number of lanes and the number of used slots (boards). Depending on the available lanes the following data transmission rates result:
Number of lanes |
maximum data transmission |
|---|---|
1 |
190 MB/s |
4 |
760 MB/s |

2895 MB/s |
The FALCONquattro Express has one lane. In multi board mode ther are the following data transmission rates available.
